Breeding Grounds for Cyber-Predators

Parental monitoring today is becoming more and more crucial since children and teens are far ahead of their parents with technology. Parental monitoring is an essential tool to protect children from wrongdoers on the internet. Parents need to remember that no matter how comfortable they and their children are with social networks and online chatting, these are the breeding grounds for cyber-predators. These predators spin a web throughout these online chat rooms and wait for the perfect timing to catch an unsuspecting child or child who is angry with his/her parents to make their move on the innocent prey and begin the entanglement into their web. The cyber-predators know they have to be patient and build the trust of these unwary children to take the first sip of their innocence. Many children use these online games and social walls as an escape to live out their alter-ego. Some children are warned about these cyber-predators but that may still not stop the child from online chatting or giving them their cell phone numbers. The children think this person seems normal and is probably just another kid. That may be true but the risks in these cases far outweigh the benefits. Nowadays, it is crucial to have some type of parental monitoring system on cell phones and computers to equip parents with better armor than the cyber-predators. Parental monitoring coupled with open communication with children is the best defense against the wrongdoers.
