Stay Connected with Tweens

I think we all need a reminder these days to stay connected with our children, no matter how old they are or act. Here are some ideas.
  1. Have a movie night or day or hour. Whether it is watching a movie or their favorite TV show, sit down with them and show your tween your interest in what they like.
  2. Start a book club with your tween. Read a book they enjoyed reading and then talk about your favorite and least favorite parts with them.
  3. Participate in sports practices. Which every sport your tween likes, try and practice with them. If you are not the athlete yourself, get a magazine or article to share with them about their sport.
  4. Have a mall day. Show your tween what window shopping is. Don’t go shopping with an agenda, let your tween make the decisions on what he or she wants to look at.
  5. Have a science fair or nature walk day. Look up on the internet or go to your local library and find out what tween science fairs are happening. A lot of time the library will host these types of experimental fairs.
The bottom line, take part in your tweens' activities and interests, the reward is invaluable for your tween and you.
